Now, we can stand up and be counted among the many Americans who support our troops without giving the impression that we also support or are a part of the Republican right-wing and the fundamentalist politics and policies that have captured the GOP.

Just like when Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger were trying to capitalize on American patriotism by capturing the American flag, as though it were only a symbol of their point of view, so that anyone displaying the flag was considered a Nixon loyalist, now the Bush Administration is using the same tactic and hoping for the same results.

But this time we can fight back and recapture our flag. Mr. Nixon sought to make the national symbol appear to be a Republican symbol, and Mr. Bush would clearly like to do the same, but now, with the Blue Voter American Flag Pin we can begin to fight back.

We can make it clear to everyone that the flag belongs to all of us while simultaneously making it clear we support our troops but do not support Mr. Bush and his policies and tactics.
